Mumbai Police says it is not their job to stop Shah Rukh Khan from entering Wankhede stadium today. “If there is a law and order problem then we will interfere. MCA itself has to decide when he tries to make an entrance,” it added.

Chennai Express Poster
The Badshah of Bollywood, the one and only Shahrukh Khan has ruled Bollywood Box Office for over a decade. But his arch rival Salman Khan has reached the top spot in no time and have left SRK far behind. Even many other Superstars are well ahead of SRK currently. From Ra.One to Jab Tak Hai Jaan, SRK has somehow failed to deliver big at the Box Office, while his rival Salman Khan is making records with each release continuously.
In Ra.One, SRK played a Super Hero role but failed to hit The Bull's Eye. Than in Don 2, he was seen in aggressive mood with Don Avatar which was appreciated but not much. Than came Jab Tak Hai Jaan and SRK played his natural Romantic role but still the movie failed to put big record numbers at Domestic Box Office.

Why Shahrukh Khan Failed to give Big Blockbusters in past couple of years ?

Now-a-days, the taste of the audience is changed a lot. The life of a common man is full of tensions and you know the reasons very well, specially the Mass audience which is large in numbers in not only India but, the whole of Asia. The audience need Entertainment when they enter the Cinema Hall. A class movie can provide entertainment only with a strong script because there is nothing much to show in a Class Movie, while a Mass movie can turn out to be a huge blockbuster even with an average script and the reason is, that there is much stuff to entertain the audience in a mass movie such as Masala Action, Humor, Romance, Single Liners ( Jokes ), Hot Sizzling Item Numbers and much more. So even if the plot of the movie is weak, people still enjoy the movie and feel relaxed.

If you see at the Box Office numbers of the movies released in past 2-3 years, you will find Mass Movies at the top, while Class movies even with strong star casts failed to deliver big. Films like Barfi, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Oh My God did great business because of an extra-ordinary strong script and some beautiful performances by the lead roles.

So coming back to the point, Shahrukh Khan's movies did record business in overseas market because no doubt, the movies were high class International Level movies but different countries have different kinds of people and in India, these types of movies does not work much.

Although his past 2-3 films are not flop but now-a-days, we do not expect a Hit or a Flop, specially by Khans. We expect record numbers as the competition is getting stronger and stronger.

So to compete with the trend going on, Chennai Express is a Golden film for Shahrukh. He is playing a Desi Role after a long time. The reason is that the film is a Mass Movie which will have lots of entertainment material and the big thing is that the movie is directed by Rohit Shetty who has delivered back to back huge blockbusters. You all know very well about the kind of movies Rohit direct. Lots of Masala Action, great comedy, romance, beautiful music, attractive screenplay and all that material which is required to entertain the Audience.

Can SRK deliver a Golden Blockbuster with Chennai Express ?

SRK's past few films were totally Class appeal but Chennai Express will be a movie for both Masses and Classes. The only bad thing is that Shahrukh will not get a festival release for Chennai Express as all the festivals of 2013 are already booked so the film will be a normal release. The release date of Chennai Express is not yet announced. The shooting of the film is in progress and recently Farah Khan has choreographed a song in Chennai Express picturised on SRK and Deepika, the leading pair of Chennai Express.

So overall, Chennai Express has everything needed for Big Box Office numbers. Huge star cast, a well known Director, perfect genre etc. In short, Chennai Express is Ready Steady PO !

We wish SRK Best Of Luck for Chennai Express !
Two Biggies of the Hindi film Industry have joined hands for a mega film. For the first time in his career, Akshay Kumar will be starring in Karan Johar's Production. And not only Acting but Akshay will also co-produce the movie with Karan. The film is untitled yet. It will be directed by Punit Malhotra and will have two main lead actors. One is Akshay and second is yet to be decided. The shooting of the film will begin in early 2014.
Akki with KJO
Talking about the film, Karan Johar said “I can’t divulge too much now. But what I can definitely say is that the movie is mainstream and has a very strong underlying social message. It’s solid and hard-hitting. Punit brought me this amazing script. I immediately approached Akshay and he was equally thrilled with the idea.

Akshay too confirmed the film “We’re two very passionate producers with one great aim i.e to entertain. Both Karan and I want to make our fathers proud. Cheers to our new venture.

So are you waiting for this mega release ?
Here is a hot news coming up!! It may disappoint some as well. For all those who are loving Salman in the current massy action entertainers that he is doing, he will continue in the same successful track for the next couple of years as well. He will be working with Sohail Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and Prabhudeva this year itself. The shooting schedule of Anees Bazmee's 'No Entry Mein Entry' has been postponed to 2014 and there is uncertainty around Sooraj Barjatya's next directorial venture as well. So those who were eagerly waiting to see Salman back in comic or romantic roles, would have to wait a little longer. Salman is now all set to start shooting for Sohail Khan's next release. The working title for this movie was kept as 'Mental' but it is not the final title, as confirmed by Sohail Khan himself. This movie is going to start from Feb 18 and it will be filmed in Goa, Lasava and Kohlapur.
After the completion of his brother's project, Khan will start working for Sajid Nadiadwala's directorial debut Kick from August. From October, Salman will start an action thriller with Tips to be directed by Prabhudeva. Prabhudeva is currently busy with the shooting of 'Ramaiyya Vastavaiiya' and he will also direct one movie with Ajay Devgn after this. Prabhudeva directed Salman earlier in 'Wanted' which marked the beginning of the golden era for Salman. Sohail's movie will release in 2013 in all probability whereas Kick and Prabhudeva's film will be coming only in 2014.

Preity Zinta got off to a dream start in Bollywood debuting opposite none other than Shahrukh Khan in ace director Mani Ratnam’s ‘Dil Se’ in 1998. Although her role was short but she was appreciated by one and all. This dimpled lass from Himachal Pradesh was originally supposed to make her screen debut opposite Hrithik Roshan in Shekhar Kapur’s ‘Tara Rum Pum Pum’ but the movie got shelved.
Preity took time in establishing herself as one of the top leading ladies of Bollywood and reached the pinnacle of success during 2003-2005. But after that it has been a tough ride for this bubbly actress. With the onslaught and rise of new brigade comprising of stars like Katrina KaifKareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, senior actresses like Preity have been relegated to the backseat. But times are quickly changing and the phenomenal comeback of Sridevi last year can trigger some great scripts written for the talented Koi Mil Gaya star.
Preity has done various roles and her portrayal of characters combined with her screen persona have contributed to a change in the concept of  a Hindi Film Heroine. Some of her noteworthy performances are those of a bubbly girl in ‘Soldier’, a CBI officer in ‘Sangharsh’, a Kashmiri beauty in ‘Mission Kashmir’, a surrogate mother in ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’, an adopted daughter in ‘Dil Hai Tumhara’, a modern girl in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, a brave TV journalist in ‘Lakshya’ and an ambitious wife in ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’.
Below is a Top 5 list of Preity Zinta’s Best Performances.
Kal Ho Naa Ho1) Kal Ho Naa Ho: Preity played the role of ‘Naina Catherine Kapoor’, an insecure and angry young woman who falls in love with a man suffering from a fatal heart disease, to utmost conviction. She received her first and only ‘Filmfare Award for Best Actress’ for her brilliant performance in the film.

Veer Zaara2) Veer Zaara: Zinta played a Pakistani girl ‘Zaara Hayaat Khan’ in the epic love saga ‘Veer Zaara’ directed by the legendary Yash Chopra. It was a mature portrayal as Preity mastered the finer nuances of Urdu language required for the character.

Kya Kehna3) Kya Kehna: This was a role that got her major recognition as an actress. Kundan Shah’s Kya Kehna, where she played the role of ‘Priya Bakshi’, a teenage single mother who fights social prejudice, with elan. A heart- felt performance that won her a nomination in the ‘Best Actress’ category.

Dil Chahta Hai4) Dil Chahta Hai: Preity played the role of a vibrant and confused girl ‘Shalini’ with ease in Dil Chahta Hai which turned out to be a path-breaking cult classic. It’s also, arguably, the best film of Preity Zinta’s career.

Salaam Namaste5) Salaam Namaste: Preity played the female protagonist ‘Amber’, a single young woman who leaves India to make her own life in Melbourne, in this beautiful Yashraj Films love story Salaam Namaste. Preity portrayed the character of a girl who has a live-in relationship with her love interest and then struggles with an unexpected pregnancy.

Here is wishing Preity Zinta a very Happy Birthday and a year filled with success and happiness. We hope to see her in good meaningful roles in the future. Her best is yet to come!

As many as 8 Bollywood movies are scheduled to release in the 1st week of February 2013 – David, Vishwaroop, Midnight’s Children, Listen Amaya, Deewana Main Deewana, Mai.., The Unsound and Pyaar Ka Jalwa.
Out of all those films, only two will have a proper release at both multiplexes and single-screens. Bijoy Nambiar’s David and Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroop.
Which film do you plan to watch this weekend? Tell us in the comments section below.
David Listen Amaya Vishwaroop
1. David: Hailed as the director to watch out for, after his critically acclaimed debut ‘Shaitan’, Bejoy Nambair is returns after a gap of two years with David. The film will have 3 tracks, which go back and forth. Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh has a role to play in one of the tracks, while Tamil superstar Vikram, Tabu, Vinay Virmani and several other actors are also a part of the ensemble cast. Talking to us recently, Bejoy promised a gripping film with good performances.
David Box Office Prediction: The film is expected to open slow (20-30%) and then grow on word-of-mouth publicity. There is nothing quite like positive WOM for medium-budget films, like we saw with Kahaani and Vicky Donor last year.
2. Vishwaroop: This movie has been constantly in the news over the last 2 weeks or so. The whole ban-clear-reban-stay fiasco, has ensured that the film has received enough publicity. Starring Kamal Haasan, Pooja Kumar, Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah, Jaideep Ahlawat and others, Vishwaroop is a spy thriller written, directed and produced by Haasan.
Vishwaroop Box Office Prediction: Barring any untoward incidents, the response to Vishwaroop should be good – atleast better than it otherwise would have (without the controversy). Having said that, Kamal Haasan isn’t quite as big a star as he down south, so a 30% opening will be considered ‘good’. Balaji Motion Pictures is releasing the Hindi version of the film in India.
3. Midnight’s Children: Is an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s 1981 novel with the same name. The film has a few known Indian faces – Soha Ali Khan, Shriya Saran, Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Shahana Goswami, Rahul Bose,, Seema Biswas, Siddarth Narayan and even Taare Zameen Par star Darsheel Safary. Midnight’s Children is written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Deepa Mehta.
Midnight’s Children Box Office Prediction: Will have a predominantly multiplex release and it’s fate will rely almost entirely on the audience response.
4. Mai… : Marks the acting debut of legendary singer Asha Bhosle. The audience awareness of the film’s release is close to nil.
5. Deewana Main Deewana: It was hard to even recognise Priyanka Chopra in the trailers, as the film has been in the making for over 10 years now. Ditto for Govinda who like he shot for the film soon after Haseena Maan Jayegi. At the boxoffice, don’t expect much! Priyanka’s presence might help the film get a 10% opening.
6. Listen Amaya: The film stars veteran actor Farooq Shaikh and Deepti Naval. In Deepti’s own words, the film “explores the relationship and thought process of the younger generation vis-a-vis the middle-aged”. A film that you can watch with your family. At the ticket window, well, it’s a multiplex release again. The film has been made on a small budget, so a decent response will help the producers recover their investment.
7. The Unsound: Is a thriller with unknown actors. Directed by Alok Shrivastav.
8. Pyaar Ka Jalwa: Phew! Not too sure how many people can afford to watch one movie a week and we have 8! The makers have promised a film that is unlike any other sweet romantic comedy that you have seen.

Apart from addressing the media on the ‘Being a Khan’ article controversy, Shahrukh Khan also launched the Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) on Tuesday.
The superstar said “I feel very fortunate to be here. The TOIFA is a fantastic platform. It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of it. There are so many award functions today but TOIFA stands for goodness, honesty and class. These will help us respect and understand awards”
SRK also added that he would be performing at the TOIFA Awards 2013 “I would be performing at the function. It is just a couple of months away. I have just landed and was under the weather with a cold. But as soon as I recover I will be meeting Shiamak (Davar) and planning for the awards.”
The TOIFA Awards will be held in Vancouver between April 4th to 6th. The awards show will be hosted by Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
A jury will pick the nominations, after which the public will get a chance to vote and pick the winners.
In a promotional video, Khan said “TOIFA will truly be a Game changer. The Times of India group and the Indian film industry has had a relationship of over a century, over a 100 years, which is way many more years than I have been born. The TOIFA Times Of India Awards will take place in Vancouver. We are going to write history in golden letters. I am extremely excited to be a part of this history in making. I hope all of you are there at Vancouver on the 6th of April 2013″

After a Pakistani minister expressed concern over the safety of
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and asked India to give him
adequate security, the actor said on Tuesday, "I would like to
tell all those who are offering me unsolicited advice that we in
India are extremely safe and happy. We have an amazing
democratic, free and secular way of life."
The controversy over one of India's biggest and most adored
celebrities is rooted in a magazine article he wrote last week
titled 'Being a Khan'.
Rejecting the debate it has spawned as "nonsense", the actor
said at a press conference in Mumbai, "I don't even
understand the basis of this controversy. Ironically, the article
I wrote - yes it is written by me - was actually meant to
reiterate that on some occasions my being an Indian Muslim
film star is misused by bigots and narrow-minded people who
have misplaced religious ideologies for very, very small gains.
And ironically the same has happened through this article once
again."
In the piece in Outlook Turning Point, the 47-year-old had
written, "There have been occasions when I have been
accused of bearing allegiance to our neighbouring nation rather
than my own country - this even though I am an Indian, whose
father fought for the freedom of India. Rallies have been held
where leaders have exhorted me to leave and return what
they refer to my original homeland."
In reaction, over the weekend, Jamaat-ud Dawa chief Hafiz
Saeed, who India holds responsible for its worst-ever terror
attack, said the star could move to Pakistan. Pakistani Interior
Minister Rehman Malik said yesterday, "He (Shah Rukh) is born
Indian and he would like to remain Indian, but I will request
the government of India (to) please provide him security."
The Indian government was cutting in its response.
"We are quite capable of looking after the security of our own
citizens... let him (Malik) worry about security of his own,"
Home Secretary RK Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

Race 2 Has Good First Weekend

Race 2 did well on its first weekend by collecting around 46.25 crore nett. The breakdown for the weekend was 14.25 crore nett on Friday, 17.50 crore nett on Saturday and 14.50 crore nett on Sunday.

The weekend total is good but the weekend trend is not so good as some centres had less collections on Sunday than Friday. Also the jump on Saturday was not as big as it should have been considering it was one of the biggest holidays of the year. On a national holiday which comes in the first three days, a big film like Race should be 20 crore nett plus.

The performance of the film is best in the North with places like Bihar and CPCI underperforming. Monday is the all important day for the film and if can pull out a 7 crore or higher Monday it is likely to go on and be the first hit of 2013.

Mumbai: Bollywood king Shahrukh Khan has exposed so-called secular face of world largest democracy: India, expressing his agony he is facing for being born as a Muslim.

SRK shared his pain in an emotive first person article titled Being a Khan for Outlook Turning Points magazine, published in association with The New York Times newspaper.

King Khan revealed that many politicians asked him to go back to his native homeland, Pakistan, after 9/11 incident.

In his article Being a Khan SRK wrote, “I sometimes become the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India. There have been occasions when I have been accused of bearing allegiance to our neighboring nation (Pakistan) rather than my own country – this even though I am an Indian, whose father fought for the freedom of India. Rallies have been held where leaders have exhorted me to leave and return what they refer to my ‘original’ homeland.”

Shahrukh, who married Gauri, a Hindu has two children – Aryan and Suhana. “I gave my son and daughter names that could pass for generic (pan-India and pan-religious) ones – Aryan and Suhana,” said SRK.

“The Khan has been bequeathed by me so they can’t really escape it. I pronounce it with my epiglottis when asked by Muslims and throw the Aryan as evidence of their race when non-Muslims enquire. I imagine this will prevent my offspring from receiving unwarranted eviction orders or random fatwas in the future,” explained Khan.

SRK said that he was pressed to make the film My Name is Khan in a bid to prove a point after being repeatedly detained in US airports because of his last name.

“Ironically, I was interrogated at the airport for hours about my last name when I was going to promote the film in America for the first time,” said King Khan.

Race 2 first day collection

Posted by Unknown On 22:17 No comments
According to BOI and Taran Adarsh figs in bracket

Race 2 had a very good opening day collecting 13.75( 15.12 ) crore nett as per early estimates on its opening day. The first day collections are the 8th highest of all time. The film collected well all across India with each circuit having good or very good collections.

The opening is the biggest ever for all the actors in the film from Saif Ali Khan to John Abraham to Deepika Padukone.

The film will have a jump in business today as it is a holiday for Republic Day which assures it a huge weekend. A 45 ( 50 )crore weekend looks almost certain and the film can even go towards 50 ( 55) crore if the film jumps 30-40% on Saturday which may be tough but possible as these big holidays have seen huge collections over the last year or so.

Biggest Bollywood Flops – 2012

Posted by Unknown On 09:09 No comments

Even though 2012 was a year that didn’t really see any major flops, there were still a few films, both big as well as small, which had some notable names involved but still sunk without making much of a mark.
‘Players’ was rejected, and how. Even though the film had suffered a poor weekend, there was still a faint hope of some revival at the least since the word of mouth wasn’t all that negative. However all such hopes were totally quashed as the weekdays hardly showed any improvement and saw a further slide in collections. Resultantly, the film pretty much folded shop after a terrible first week seeing merely 22 crore coming in. What further established the film’s poor run was the fact that the collections were a few lakhs lesser than Abhishek Bachchan’s last release ‘Dum Maaro Dum’.

Writing was clear on the wall for ‘Tezz’ when it collected merely 11 crores in the opening weekend. If the he word of mouth was bad, Priyadarshan’s confession about the film being a sub-standard product didn’t help the cause either. The director claimed that he didn’t have any control over the film though the producer (Ratan Jain) felt that he did all that he could to safeguard this much delayed product. Ajay Devgn suffered yet another biggie debacle with Priyadarshan after ‘Aakrosh’, a pity because none of the two films were really bad if one looks at them as core commercial entertainers.

‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ turned out to be a huge flop, hence resulting in a step back for Shahid Kapoor who was really in look out for a long pending clean hit. After a poor start, this Kunal Kohli directed film could never recover. Audience feedback didn’t help the cause either as a result of which the film’s first week read a mere 23 crores. This was quite low for the film which came with the potential of crossing at least 50 crores at the box office. This also meant that Shahid now had a film of his collecting less than the likes of not just ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Mausam’ but even ‘Badmaash Company’.

‘Rush’ took the poorest opening for an Emraan Hashmi film ever since he was hearlded with the superstar status. This much delayed film saw a sparse release for itself, didn’t quite get too many good shows for itself and was further marred by the fact that the end product was hardly impressive. The film folded up under the 4 crore mark which is less than half of what Emraan’s films earn on their opening day now! Ultimately ‘Rush’ went down as an affair that would be remembered more as a goodwill gesture by Emraan to have completed it than anything else.

‘Ekk Deewana Tha’ failed to take any substantial start at the box office. However an opening in the range of 10% was much lower than even the least occupancy one would have imagined for the film. Yes, the film didn’t have much going in its favour, whether it is the pull of the actors in the film, an overall promotional strategy or the lack of any buzz/hype before the release. Still, the disastrous opening must have been heart stopping for all involved. With barely 4 crores coming in, this was a second disappointment for director Gautham Menon in the world of Hindi films after ‘Rehnna Hai Terre Dil Main’.
